  • The Firecracker 5K – The annual fun race starts at 8 a.m. (the kid’s race starts at 9 a.m.).  Runners, trotters, and walkers enjoy the scenic, tree-canopied area.
  • Shrimping Eco Tour – Amelia Island’s historic shrimping and fishing industries are brought to life on a guided boat tour of the shrimping waters around Amelia. Board an authentic shrimp boat and learn how to cast an Otter Trawl shrimp net as you explore the estuary of tidal creeks and backwaters. The seasonal tour features a catch and release experience, dolphin sightings, and maybe a glimpse of the wild horses on Cumberland Island.
  • 4th Freedom Festival – The Main Beach at Fernandina Park stokes the Island’s patriotic holiday spirit with live music, food, local arts and crafts, and fun games. The family-friendly celebration is from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. 
  • 4th of July Hometown Celebration – At 5 p.m., downtown Fernandina kicks off an evening of fun, festive events. The aroma from food vendors offering special delicacies fills the air. Local artisans show off their arts and crafts. Live music performances are scheduled throughout the evening. Dancing, singing, and a happy celebratory atmosphere all lead up to the day’s big finale – an awe-inspiring fireworks extravaganza over the water starting at 9:15 p.m.
